Water Quality Monitoring Training
On June 28, 2025, Triad Wild! board members Stan Faeth, Hank Henry, and Jon Skinner waded into Reedy Fork Creek and began an intense search for aquatic invertebrates. Why? The board members were being trained by Kaitlyn Elliot, Water Quality Program Manager for Haw River Assembly to participate in long term water quality monitoring of the Haw River and its many tributaries.
Now that we are trained, Triad Wild! will begin quarterly monitoring of aquatic invertebrate diversity, water quality and stream habitat features in Muddy Creek this September. Muddy Creek, a tributary of the Haw River, flows through Woven Works Park in Greensboro. Triad Wild! will simultaneously tend to the native plant gardens at Woven Works Park the day of water quality sampling, in partnership with the City of Greensboro Parks & Recreation.
Watch for our Call for Volunteers in early September to get involved in stream monitoring and caretaking of native plant gardens at Woven Works Park!
