We welcome you to join us as we explore a 3-mile loop through 140 acres of extraordinary forest rich with both ecological and historical significance. The woods have witnessed the history of Greensboro for centuries…long before the roads, subdivisions and shopping centers that surround it today.  Only 5 minutes from the center of town and adjacent to the campus of Guilford Woods, the land was prime property for development.  However, Piedmont Land Conservancy has stepped forward and is in a capital campaign to raise the funds needed to purchase the development rights from Guilford College, ultimately placing the land under a conservation easement that will protect the woods forevermore.

We will walk the paths through the woods and hear a bit about the history of Greensboro, the Underground Railroad that operated through the woods, and the natural elements of this forest as well as learn more about the current campaign that will soon permanently protect the woods while creating new public trails, preserving wildlife habitat, protecting drink water, and saving cherished and rapidly diminishing greenspace in the Piedmont.

Our guides possess a wealth of knowledge about the property, nature, history and the role that PLC is playing in preserving our open spaces across 9 counties.

Space is limited and advance registration is required. Register here.
